Almost every consumer and commercial drone ships with lithium-polymer batteries, and UN38.3 testing is required before they can be loaded onto an aircraft or vessel. Buyers should request the UN38.3 test summary for the specific battery model, plus the MSDS, and check that the shipping carton carries the correct hazard labels. Because a battery that passes UN38.3 can still fail transport for other reasons — state of charge limits, so-called UN3481 versus UN3480 classification — specify the delivery mode and the battery charge level when you place an order.
