Overview
The PL-30 is built for transmission and distribution utility teams that inspect conductors, insulators and tower hardware without climbing. A 34x optical zoom with 200 m digital hybrid magnification lets one operator read a single insulator string from a safe standoff, and the 640 × 512 radiometric thermal sensor measures conductor hotspot temperatures to ±2 °C for load-balancing studies. A laser rangefinder reports slant distance to the conductor, so the operator can hold a fixed working distance along the line and keep every image at the same scale for automated defect detection. With 35 minutes of flight time and a 12 km transmission range, a 5 km span with three towers on each side can be inspected in a single sortie. The platform carries a 5 kg payload ceiling for gimbal-mounted accessories such as an insulation tester or a corona detector, and the IP54 body is built for the year-round outdoor duty of a line crew.
